Facial Fillers
When it's not the right time for cosmetic surgery, men and women today often choose to rejuvenate with a facial filler such as Juvederm® or Restylane®. New York residents, known for cosmopolitan style and attention to detail, are no exception. Injectable wrinkle fillers are a popular way to take years off your appearance with no downtime and a modest investment.
There are several effective fillers available today, and we use them strategically to enhance the appearance of our patients in New York. Juvederm, for instance, is often a good choice for lip augmentation. We use both Juvederm and Restylane to fill wrinkles alongside the mouth called nasolabial folds, small lines above the upper lip, tear troughs under the eyes and in other areas. The two products are based on hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in humans that attracts water molecules, further enhancing effectiveness.
Although fillers are commonly used today, it takes experience and a thorough background in medicine and anatomy to know which compounds are best for which purpose. And it takes the skill and artistic nature of a plastic surgeon like Dr. Elliot Jacobs to achieve optimal results. Why not contact us to schedule an appointment today?

Facial Filler FAQ
- What are the differences between all the fillers?
Many fillers, such as Restylane and Juvederm, are based on hyaluronic acid, a naturally substance that has been proven to attract water molecules, and in some cases, provide a long-lasting collagen rebuilding effect. The differences in these products relate to the size of the molecules and other attributes. Other fillers are based on other main ingredients, such as calcium. They all have their advantages and disadvantages.
- Why do these products "wear off?"
Over the course of a few months, your body will harmlessly absorb the filler.
- How are fillers different than Botox?
Dermal fillers do what the term implies; they "fill" wrinkles from underneath the skin. The injected material serves as a firm foundation underneath lines and creases, boosting and smoothing the skin. Botox and Dysport block repeated muscle action that causes dynamic wrinkles, such as the lines on your forehead.
