“His and Hers” Nose Jobs?
When it comes to working with New York nose job patients, we field some interesting requests.
For years, many women wanted a nose like Jessica Alba’s. Lately, a few patients have asked for a carbon copy Kate Middleton’s nose. No matter who owns the much-admired nose, we often spend time helping patients understand 1) why that particular nose might not look natural on their face, and 2) that their existing nose structures can’t be magically transformed into a duplicate of another person’s nose.
One request we have not heard yet is for “his and hers” nose jobs yielding similar results. If we ever do, we will also need to educate patients about why this is probably not the best idea.
Of course we welcome couples seeking rhinoplasty surgery, and it’s perfectly fine to have a joint consultation. But we explain to our male patients that to look natural and harmonize with the rest of the face, the optimal nose for them will be straight and strong. For women, typically a more delicate, refined nose looks best. And female noses often have a very slight up tilt as well.

We’ll make facial measurements and take note of the strength of your cheekbones and chin, and we’ll look carefully at the position of your eyes. Your heritage will also play a role in the surgical plan we propose. Some men and women feel Mother Nature has been heavy handed with their nose, but most people do not want to remove all traces of their ethnicity.
And yes, if there are noses you admire, whether they belong to someone famous, someone in your family or even your significant other, we are definitely open to discussion! But we’ll ask that you listen to our input as well, so we can arrive at a strategy for your nose that’s just right for your entire face.
