Some of the Best Celebrity Cosmetic Surgery
As a New York cosmetic surgery practice with the highest standards and goals for patients, we sometimes get a little tired of all the celebrity plastic surgery “news.” Given the public’s fascination with actors, sports figures and others in the public eye, we understand why the media would churn out celebrity cosmetic surgery stories day after day. But many pieces published in print and online do not exactly portray our profession or some of the people who choose cosmetic procedures in the best of light.
To offer up some balance, here are three celebrity cosmetic surgery stories we can really get behind. In spite of having millions of adoring fans and paparazzi wanting to publicize their every move, these people seem to have kept their heads on straight when it comes to changing their appearance.
Kaley Cuoco’s Cosmetic Surgery
A star on CBS’s Big Bang Theory, Kaley Cuoco, is one of the more recent actors to own up to having gone under the knife. She’s had a nose job, or rhinoplasty, and breast augmentation. In an interview posted online at ABC News, Kaley said, “I don’t think you should do it for a man or anyone else, but if it makes you feel confident, that’s amazing.”
Why Kaley’s cosmetic surgery makes sense to us: The actress works out regularly and is dedicated to eating right. She chose rhinoplasty and breast enhancement to fine tune her physique, not to make drastic changes.
Ariel Winter’s Breast Reduction
Young actress Ariel Winter, the middle child on ABC’s Modern Family, decided to undergo breast reduction surgery last year at age 17. (We wrote about her experience then, you can read the post here.) She was barely into her teen years when the petite star found herself with F-cup breasts. Her very curvy figure cased Ariel physical and emotional distress.
Why we would be pleased to have Ariel as a patient: Although Ariel would be on the younger side of our patients’ age range, since she developed large breasts early we support her decision to move ahead with breast reduction. We applaud her for taking care of a body feature that was a problem, and for not being ashamed to tell her story so others can learn.
Gordon Ramsay’s Facial Rejuvenation
Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay—known for starring on Fox’s Hell’s Kitchen and other cooking shows—is one of the few male television personalities who will discuss “having work done.” A short profile on a beauty, health and fashion website highlighted Gordon’s choice to elect a few rejuvenation procedures at the prompting of his family. The Scottish native chose chin enhancement and a “minor facelift” to bring back a more youthful profile, plus he had Botox treatment to smooth premature wrinkles.
Why we celebrate Gordon’s decision: There are several positive aspects of this experience we can highlight. Gordon was secure enough to listen to his family’s input, heed their advice and share his story with the public. Furthermore, the celebrity chef had the good sense to select a few rejuvenation procedures and stop there. He is reportedly pleased with the results, and they look natural and attractive to us.
Back in the Real World
It’s unfortunate that stories of celebrities’ extreme cosmetic surgery are so abundant while you have to search harder for reasonable role models. But maybe that makes sense—you probably wouldn’t emulate many celebrities’ life choices in general.
Perhaps one thing the media does for us when it comes to covering the cosmetic procedures of those in the limelight: show us what NOT to do. The antidote for ginormous derrieres, unnaturally swollen lips, beach ball breasts and too many facial treatments is well planned and executed procedures that look natural and normal. It has been our privilege to provide this kind of cosmetic surgery for New York patients for thirty years—contact us if you’d like to explore what’s right for you.
